[TCE Dire Wolves and Sabers]

It is the Cenozoic Era. To be more specific, the Tertiary section of said era. The climate has been cooling rapidly and the intelligent life forms have been sent into a panic; birds have control as they fly overhead, swooping down to pick up whatever food they want so they can survive. They, after all, outnumber other animals two to one. Among the many animals roaming the earth are the Dire wolves and Saber-toothed tigers. The two most dangerous predators to slow moving animals, such as Mammoths. They have a powerful will to survive and so, the single packs of each group have started a war- with each other. One species battling another.

The Saber-toothed tigers find themselves sheltering in the mountainous region with large caves; it is deadly and harsh, but they can handle the steep slopes and the mountains provide protection from the cold wind that whips through the air constantly. Meanwhile, the Dire wolves have claimed a section of land about six miles from the mountains, where a few Mammoths of old and young will roam when lost from the herd. Here, they must put up with some wind, but do not have to worry about falling boulders or dangerous birds overhead. In the middle of the two territories is no cat’s land.

In the beginning, the war was not large and dangerous. But, one night, a battle began in Saber-toothed territory and a litter of cubs was slaughtered. They had agreed not to kill the young and defenseless but, in the snow, bleeding, mangled…cubs. The Saber-toothed cats were outraged and murdered the wolf who committed such a crime; now the war has taken on a new meaning. Not only are they fighting for food, but they are fighting out of hatred.

Who will win this primitive war?
