Echostar shook her head trying to get the scent out of her nose. "Birchpaw you need a mentor one who can teach you everything you need to. With two mentors it is hard to tell what you have learned and what you haven't Don't worry I'll make sure it's a cat you like." Echostar picked the thrush up and padded a few feet away ready to head back to camp.

Birchpaw sighed, but didn't argue with his leader. He quickly finished the squirrel. He liked the taste of them--they were rare in ShadowClan, but not impossible to find. He turned to Duskstone. "Who was your mentor?" he asked, thinking that Echostar's mentor was probably already gone.

Duskstone stood up and stepped a few paces behind echostar. "I could be Birchpaw's mentor if you like." He knew that Birchpaw was comfortable with him and Duskstone loved to train apprentices. |

Birchpaw nodded happily. "Please?' he asked Echostar, forgetting about his question. It would only be Duskstone as his mentor, not Echostar as well, but he could get used to that if he wanted.

Duskstone smiled at the apprentice's eagerness to be his apprentice. He looked to Echostar for the awnser to his question. He hoped it would be a yes because he loved to train and helo out other cats. |

Echostar smiled down at Birchpaw "I have a cat already in mind for you. Know let's head back to camp. She was planning on giving Birchpaw to Duskstone but he wanted it to be a surprise for the apprentice. If he could he would tell Duskstone but if he did Birchpaw would know.

Birchpaw hung his head at the semi-no to Duskstone, but raised it as a idea popped into his head. What if my new mentor is betetr then them? He got excited and padded faster towards camp.

Echostar padded into camp and jumped onto a tree stump ""Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here below the Calling Stump for a Clan meeting!" Echostar looked down at Birchpaw and flicked her tail for the apprentice to step forward.

Duskstone nodded respectfully as he sat in the front of the small crowd that gathered infront of the stump. He understood what Echostar was planning something inside him told him that Birchpaw would indeed be is apprentice. |

Birchpaw had quickly groomed himself and now he stood proudly beside the tree stump. He eyes around to see who else was well-groomed for the ceremony.

Duskstone smiled as he wached Birchpaw cleaning himself up for the event. He thought back to when he was a apprentice and remembered how exicited he was. |

Echostar's eyes flashed "Birtchpaw until now your training has bean spit between Duskstone and myself. It is now time to assign you a a full time mentor until you receive your warrior name. From this day forward until your warrior name is receive....Duskstone you shall be Birtchpaws mentor." With a wave of her tail Echostar jumped down fro the stump and padded over to Birchpaw. "I was planning on assigning Duskstone to you from the start but I wanted it to be a surpise."

Birchpaw cried out in joy at the mention of Duskstone. He leapt up and flicked his tail. "Really?" he asked, surprised. From what Echostar had said he had no idea Duskstone would be his mentor. What a great surprise! Birchpaw bent hsi head. He was sorry for being rude. "Thank you," he mewed, hoping it sounded apoligestic as well.

Echostar purred softly "yes really. I knew Duskstone would be a perfect mentor for you from the start. How could I refuse you the mentor who could teach you the most.." Turning to Duskstone Echostar nodded her head respectfully. "I trust you will teach Birchpaw everything you know."

Duskstone nodded. "Of course." He was excited now he had a full time apprentice that he could train. He couldn't wait untill there first training session. |
